Mining Industry Becomes Core Driver, Surging Demand for Heavy-Duty Trailers in Kyrgyzstan

2025-10-31
- As a pillar industry accounting for 24.04% of Kyrgyzstan's GDP, the continuous expansion of the mining sector has become the core driver of demand for heavy-duty Trailers. In 2023, the output value of Kyrgyzstan's mining industry reached 388 million USD, with exports of gold, antimony ore and iron ore increasing by 18%, 22% and 15% year-on-year respectively, directly driving the demand for heavy-duty trailers up by 21%.
Kyrgyzstan is home to world-class mineral deposits such as the Kumtor Gold Mine and Kadamzhai Antimony Mine. Among them, the Kumtor Gold Mine produced 20 tons of gold in 2023, while the Jermuk Iron Mine completed the mining of 21 million tons of ore. These minerals need to be transported from remote mining areas to border processing hubs by heavy-duty trailers; the Kumtor Gold Mine alone requires more than 15 new heavy-duty units monthly to meet transportation needs.
"The old trailers currently used in the mine have a load capacity of only 40 tons, and often shut down in winter due to hydraulic system freezing," said the logistics director of the Kumtor Gold Mine. "We are in urgent need of large-load models that can adapt to Gobi terrain and severe cold. Increasing the load capacity of a single trailer to 60 tons will significantly reduce transportation costs." It is understood that heavy-duty trailers currently account for 58% of Kyrgyzstan's trailer market, becoming the absolute main force.
